Getting started

Everything works in a web browser. The apps are nicer on a phone or TV, and the links above go to the official ones.

Sign in for the first time

  1. Ask Caleb for your username and a temporary password. The same ones work for Watch, Request, Photos and Files.
  2. Sign in, then change the password straight away to one only you know. In Jellyfin it’s under your profile picture, then Password. In Immich and Nextcloud it’s in Account settings.
  3. When an app asks for a server address, type the one for that app:
Jellyfin
https://jellyfin.home.calebmasters.co.uk
Immich
https://photos.home.calebmasters.co.uk
Nextcloud
https://cloud.home.calebmasters.co.uk

Watch on the TV

  1. Open your TV’s own app store and search for Jellyfin. It’s there on Android TV and Google TV, Fire TV, Roku, LG and Samsung.
  2. Enter the server address https://jellyfin.home.calebmasters.co.uk and sign in.

Request a film or series

  1. Open Request and sign in with your Jellyfin username and password.
  2. Search for the film or series.
  3. Tap Request. For a series, choose which seasons you want.
  4. It usually appears in Watch within an hour. New releases can take longer.

There’s no app for Request. On your phone, open the website and choose Add to Home Screen from the share or menu button. It then sits with your other apps.

Back up your phone’s photos

  1. Install the Immich app and open it.
  2. Enter the server address https://photos.home.calebmasters.co.uk and sign in.
  3. Go to Backup, choose the albums to back up (usually Recents or Camera) and turn backup on.
  4. The first upload can take a while. Leave the phone plugged in and on Wi‑Fi.
  5. On an iPhone, open the app now and then. iPhones pause uploads from apps that haven’t been opened for a while.

Share a folder

  1. Open Files and find the folder.
  2. Tap the share icon next to it, or the three dots and then Share.
  3. Under Share link, tap the plus to make a link.
  4. For anything private, add a password or an expiry date in the link’s settings.
  5. Copy the link and send it however you normally would.
